Our whole team at Sunshine Dental is committed to providing reliable, quality oral care. We welcome both old and new patients and hope to share the smiles at Sunshine Dental with all who visit.

Our Story
Dr. Gary Tao, D.M.D

​

Dr. Gary Tao graduated in 1988 from West China University School of Dentistry where he stayed as an alumnus to teach as a clinical instructor at the dental hospital. He and his family later moved to Vancouver where he earned his DMD from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Tao has over 35 years of clinical experience, with 20 years of practice in Vancouver. He continues to serve with passion and keeps up to date through continuing education studies, seminars, and conferences. With his colleagues and his daughter, Dr. Tao enjoys volunteering at the Vancouver East Side Walk-In Dental Clinic.

Dr. Cecilia Loewen, BMLSc., D.M.D

Dr. Cecilia Loewen loves working with kids and is passionate about volunteering locally and abroad. She grew up in Vancouver and was inspired by her father's work as a dentist to do the same.

​

As a graduate of the University of British Columbia Doctor of Dental Medicine Program, Dr. Loewen has earned recognition for her community service, leadership, and achievements in clinical performance including the Academy of General Dentistry British Columbia Chapter Prize and the Vancouver Dental Education Centre Study Group Award. Her passions include teaching as a clinical instructor at UBC Dentistry, working with kids and teenagers, and volunteering locally and abroad.

Dr. Loewen and her husband have three daughters and a sheltie, and enjoy spending weekends at nearby parks and coffeeshops.
